Today I’m at Long Beach Transit’s Health Fair providing Medicare information to their employees.
It’s always fun to get out with the public and meet individuals. What I quickly find out is that every individual has a unique situation.
Some have health insurance through Long Beach Transit.
Some have coverage through their spouse’s employer.
Some people plan to retire early.
Some plan to work into their late 60’s.
Everyone’s situation is different which means there is no cookie cutter approach to solving their health insurance needs.
Treating each individual case uniquely and holistically has been our approach not only for our Medicare clients but for those that work with us on their retirements as well.
This approach is different than choosing to work directly with health insurance companies.
For one, usually when someone calls the insurance companies directly, you will only ever hear about that particular company’s product.
We work with 9 to 10 different insurance companies. We don’t care which company you ultimately decide to work with however we’ll make some suggestions.
Two, when you call into these companies you are most likely going to get a different person on the phone every time you call.
When you call our office, if I’m available, I’ll be the one to take your call and help you out.
Three, if you plan to leave your insurance plan, without an agent, you’re left by yourself to determine what new plan would be most advantageous for you.
Am I biased when it comes to this topic? Absolutely!
Here’s why…
Yesterday I had a couple come into my office and the husband is approaching Medicare in November.
They have gone to their medical group to listen to a Medicare 101 before. At the end, they were still confused about what to do.
About twenty minutes into our discussion about Medicare, he stopped me and said, “This is so much easier explained this way, instead of having to spend hours listening to my medical group try to explain it.”
That is the exactly what I want to hear from those I meet with.
So if you are approaching Medicare and need someone to talk to, schedule a time with us by clicking here or call our office at 800-464-4941.
