As we head into the warmer months, we would like to forget that RSV, Whooping Cough, and Flu existed.
But as we all know, these viruses don’t go away – and the minute we turn our thermostats over from cool to heat, they are ready and waiting to lob themselves at our unsuspecting immune systems.
If you are a Medicare beneficiary, I have good news. Because of new legislation, as of Jan. 1, 2023, all CDC-recommended vaccinations are covered under Medicare. That includes (but is not limited to):
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis B
HPV
Influenza
Measles, Mumps and Rubella
Meningococcal
Pneumococcal
Rabies
Rotavirus
RSV
Varicella (Chickenpox)
Zoster (Shingles)

Even if you have had these vaccines in the past, it’s worth checking with your doctor to make sure you are up to date. Some of the vaccines (like for whooping cough, for example) wear off over time.
